The eminent writer of the last half of the twentieth-century Tapobijay Ghosh was born in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. After the partition, his family moved to India and settled in Suri, Birbhum district, West Bengal. After graduation, he started his career teaching at Katwa College, Burdwan. He later joined Siuri College and later Dinabandhu College in Shibpur. He has also served as the Head of the Bangla Department at Kalyani University.
He started writing short stories regularly in the mid-fifties. At that time many of his writing were published in various magazines. He wrote novels like ‘Ekhan Prem’, ‘Samne Larai’ etc. focusing on the Naxal movement in West Bengal. And these novels have been translated into various regional languages of India.
