Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay (March 30, 1899 – September 22, 1970) was an Indian Bengali literary creator. the author was born in the town of Jounpur in Uttar Pradesh. His first literary work was published at the age of 20, when he was studying law in Vidyasagar College in Kolkata. He continued to practice literary with his studies. His remarkable creation detective character- ‘Bomkesh Bakshi’ the character first time came to the readers in 1932. According to composition, the first story of the Bomkesh series was ‘Pather Kanta’. In addition to detective story writing, he had tremendous skill in writing the historical novels as ‘Kaler Mandira’, ‘gourmallar’, ‘tumi sandhyar megh’, ‘tungabhadrar tire’, ‘Kumarsambhaber Kabi’ etc. Sharadindu started his career as a screenwriter in 1938 in Bombay Talkies, Mumbai. He retired from the film work in 1952 and permanently started living in Pune. For the next 18 years, he created all outstanding literature. Sharadindu’s teenage stories- ‘sodashiver kando-karkhana’ are still very popular today. The social novels such as ‘Bisher dhoya’ or writings about the supernatural- ‘Barda Series’ and other stories are now still in the best seller. He died in 1970.
