Shaktipada Rajguru (Born: February 1, 1922 – Died: June 12, 2014) was an eminent Indian Bengali Writer. He is considered to be the author of a popular genre of Bengali literature. ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara‘ is his most popular storybook. This long-lived writer is the author of more than three hundred books. This novelist started writing in the early 1940s.
He drew the attention of everyone in 1942 by writing the first story “Abartan” in Desh Patrika. His first novel ‘Dinguli Mor’ was published in 1945. The first written long story was ‘Chenamukh’ which was published in Ultorath magazine in 1956. The narrative of this story was the unbearable life struggle of the refugees. Famous filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak made a film based on this story called “Meghe Dhaka Tara”. The film became very popular and Shaktipada Rajguru introduces himself to the public.
Film Director Shakti Samanta made the film “Amanush” based on his story “Naya Basat” which was released in 1975 and gained much popularity. After then Shakti Samanta made a second film based on another of his stories, entitled “Anushandhan” in 1981. The Hindi version of the film was titled “Barsat Ki Ek Raat” and it became very popular among the audience.
