Tarapat Ray is a Bengali poet, essayist, storyteller, and a well-known humorous writer. He was born on November 17, 1936, in Tangail district of present Bangladesh. After the partition of India in 1947, he went to West Bengal in India. He wrote innumerable short stories, humorous writing. His first poem compilation “Tomar Pratima” was published in 1960. The picture of his childhood Bangladesh has emerged in many of his writings. ‘Charabari’, ‘Porabari’ is his famous novel. The famous poet and humorous writer also wrote under the pseudonym of ‘Nakhstra Roy’ and ‘Granthakit’. Notable works are- ‘Kandogyan’, ‘Gyangarmi’, ‘Dodo Tatai Palakahini’, ‘Balish’, etc.
