Although Kazi Abdul Wadud (1894-1970) entered literary life in his early life by writing novels and short stories, he gained fame as a rational essayist. ‘Shashwata Banga’ (1951) is his famous prose essay work.
In the early stages of his life, Goethe was the literary ideal of the free-thinking Kazi Abdul Wadud, whose classical ideology of poetry, serious expressive writing techniques, good sense, contemplation, and consciousness attracted him deeply. Later, his literary inspiration was Rabindra-Kavya Jagat. The philosophy of Rabindra-Jiban attracted him deeply. The life of the Kabiguru was the object of absolute attraction to him, Rabindra-kavya was the peace of his soul, the comfort of his mind.
He deeply believed that Rabindra-Sahityadarshan has a definite solution to the great problem that could not be solved between the two Bengalis and the people of the two Bengals in the post-independence period. This consciousness is frozen in many of his works including ‘Shashwata Banga’.
Kazi Abdul Wadud lived a simple and unpretentious life. He was a worshiper of humanity, without any religious narrow-mindedness or orthodoxy. He had cordial relations with Bengali literature and literary writers.
His notable works are- Novel: Nadibakkhe (1918), Storybooks: Mirparibar (1918), Rabindra Kabya Path (1927), Samaj O Sahitya (1934), Hindu-Musulman Birod (1936), Ajker Kotha (1941), Kabi Guru Goethe (1946), Shashwatabanga (1951), Swadhinata Daner Upohar (1951), Banglar Jagaran (1956), etc. The influence of open intellect and thoughtfulness exists in every one of his compositions. As an example of this, his book ‘Shashwata Banga’ is unique.
