D. Partha Chattopadhyay was born in Gobardanga village of North 24 Pargna district in West Bengal. In 1959, finished graduation from the local college, he came to Calcutta with only thirty rupees and joined the newspaper. His postgraduate studies continued with his journalistic career. Then suddenly he got the Commonwealth Journalist Scholarship and went to Britain to read about the newspaper. He returned to the country in 1961, journalism in four newspapers together for 37 years. Most of the time he was in Anand Bazar. He was an editor of ‘Parivartan’ Patrika for four years. He joined the post of Principal and Dean of the Department of Magazine (ganagyapan) in Assam University in 1998. After retirement in 2002 now he is a writer of all time. He has turned around the world many times and got many awards and honors. In 1974 he was honored by International Jefferson Fellowship. He wrote many stories, novels, travels, essays. Now his concentration is on biographer book writing and established an organization named ‘Sipdave’ for creating the values and personality of youth and students.
