‘Ramayana’ is one of the epic poems of Hindus in Sanskrit written by Maharshi Balmiki. The epic was written in the third century BC. In the fourteenth century, Krittibas Ojha translated the first Sanskrit Ramayana into Bengali and it is known as ‘Krittibasi Ramayana’. This epic is based on the story of the kings of the ancient Indian Sun dynasty.

On the other hand, another epic of Hindus is ‘Mahabharata’ which is composed in Sanskrit by Krishnadvaipayana Byas. The Mahabharata was written before the fifth or fourth century BC. Kashiram Das, Sri Kali Prasanna Singh translated this epic into Bengali. The subject of this epic is various episodes related to the Kuru-Pandava kingdom and the ‘Kurukshetra’ war.

These two epics have a lot to do with the mental structure of adults as well as children. But the content of these two epics is very complex and beyond the comprehension of children. These two books are written in such a way that the children can understand and enjoy the main content of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The children will be able to understand the content of these two epics like a story through pictures.
