Professor Sukumari Bhattacharya has analyzed the Rama-character of Ramayana in the light of modern thought to a very small extent. The author has criticized here three aspects of Rama’s character in Ramayana.
The first is that Sri Ramachandra killed Bali in a dishonest way.
The second is that Sri Ramachandra repeatedly insulted Sita and abandoned her. He did not give due respect to Goddess Sita as his wife.
The third is that when Shudra king Shambuk started meditating in the hope of attaining heaven, Rama killed him for the crime of meditating even though he was a Shudra race.
The author has criticized by analyzing all these incidents in detail. The book is small in size but contains a lot of information.
