Ashok Mitra born on February 17, 1917 in Chaklai Pandua (Hugli). Education- Matriculation in 1932 then Presidency College and later Morton College of Oxford. In 1940 I.C.S. He was a skilled administrator, researcher, sociologist, professor, historian and critic and he is also known as ‘Father of Indian Census’. Basically, by his initiative, the terracotta horse of Bankura and Balochari sari of Bishnupur have been revived. This eminent person received lots of honors for his devotion, mentality and empirical works.
The book ‘Bharater Chitrakala’, written in 1956 that is considered to be the first such work in the regional language of India. He has translated many books as ‘Chaturanga’, ‘Gulap Sundari by Kamal Kumar’, ‘Babu Britanta by Samar Sen’.
This Indian economist and leftist politician awarded by Rabindra Puruskar and died on 9th July 1999.

Ashoke Mitra wrote Bharoter Chitrakala, Poschim Europer Chitrakala, Chhobi kake bole,Tin Kuri Das, Poschimbanger puja parbon o mela etc. The leftist politician and the Finance Minister of Left Front Government wrote Apila Chapila, Achenake Chine Chine, Nastikotar Baire, Samaj Sangstha Asha Nirasha etc.However, I am glad to get all the books of those two Ashoke Mitras.
