Salam Azad was born on 10 July 1984 in Damla village of Bikrampur. This accomplished student of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Institution spent his later education at Gaibandha Government College and Dhaka University. He has published more than forty-one books, including novels, stories, and essays. His book ‘Contribution of India in the war of liberation of Bangladesh’ is the first book published from Bangladesh on India’s contribution to the liberation war.

His novel ‘Bhangamath’ was banned by the Khaleda Nizami coalition government on July 16, 2004, and the author fell victim to the fatwa of the Muslim fundamentalists. He is currently living in exile in Delhi, India. Salam Azad’s book ‘Rabindrabhubone Bangladesh’ was published by Visva-Bharati in the Poush Mela of 2003.
