In the year 1321, a monthly magazine called ‘Narayan’ was started under the editorship of Chittaranjan Das from Cornwallis Street (Bidhan Sarani). About 6 months after the publication of ‘Sabujpatra’, exactly in the month of Agrahayan.
This Chittaranjan Das was also known as a renowned lawyer and poet at that time, but he had not yet become ‘Deshbandhu’. He was the founder of ‘Narayan’ magazine but his foster father was Bipin Chandra Pal. Bipin Chandra also named this magazine. In fact, he is the possessor of ‘Narayan’.
Although the magazine was contemporary with Rabindranath, it was untouched by Rabindranath. Not only untouchable — at one time it seems that the publication and promotion of this newspaper is to oppose Rabindranath.
However, Narayan magazine has published many stories during his eighty years of life. This compilation of some stories was selected from them. The stories published in this magazine are full of variety.
