Sunil Gangopadhyay (7th September 1934- 23 October 2012) was born in the village of Maijhpara, subdivision- Madaripur in Faridpur district, at present Bangladesh. At an early age, he came to Kolkata. He passed MA of Economics from the University of Calcutta. He debut as a poet and he is the most prominent piece of modern Bengali poetry. His first book of poems was ‘Eka Ebong Koyekjon (1958)’, ‘Amar swapno (1972)’, Bandi Jege Achho (1958), sei Muhurte Nira, Hathat Nirar Janyo etc. His first novel was ‘Atmaprakash’ since then, he wrote many novels, short stories, poetry.
