Panchanan Ghoshal is the pioneer of Indian crime literature. But unfortunately he was almost forgotten from Bangla literature. Rabindranath was the inspiration of his writings.
He was born in 1907 at the Madaral village of Naihati region in North 24 Parganas in a zamindar family. He was a doctorate in criminal science and M.S.C. in zoology. In his career, he retired as Deputy Commissioner of Police. He has a lot of contribution in Bangla criminal science literature. Notable works-
