Bani Basu (Born: March 11, 1939) is a well-known writer in the Bengali language. She created many stories, novels, poems, essays, and also she is a good translator. Her notable translation books are: ‘Sri Arabinder Sonetguchchho’, ‘Somarset Momer Sera Premer Galpo’, ‘H.D. Lorencher Sera Galpo’. The author has received many literary awards and honors and she has been popular in the literary world since the decade of the eighties.
Her first novel ‘Janmabhumi O Matribhumi’ was published in the Sharadiya Anandolok Patrika in 1987. In 1991, she received Tarashankar Award for the storybook ‘Antarghat’. She also got Sahitya Academy Award in 2010, Sahitya Setu Puruskar in 1997, Ananda Puruskar in 1997, Bankim Award in 1999.
There are some famous novels name- ‘Maitreo Jatak’, ‘Antarghat’, ‘Kinar Theke Kinare’, ‘Uttarsadhak’, ‘Pancham Purush’, ‘Britter Baire’, ‘Radhanagar’, ‘Kak Jyotsna’, ‘Ekushe Pa’, ‘Ashwajoni’, ‘Phero Mon’, ‘Ashtam Garvo’, ‘Amrita’, ‘Surupa Kurupa’, etc.
