Tarapada Roy was a distinguished poet and a jest-writer. This Bengali great writer used to write pseudonyms ‘Nakshatra Roy’ and ‘Granthakit’. Although the author’s first love was ‘poetry’ but Bengali readers have remembered Tarapada Roy for his numerous satires composed. He is the masterpiece of a mixture of bitter juice mixed with humor in Bengali literature.

He wrote poetry from his childhood. His first book of poems is ‘Tomar Pratima’ (Your idol) was published in 1960. The number of his published poems is about a thousand.
