Radharani Devi was born in Coochbihar district in West Bengal. Her father Ashutosh Ghosh was the deputy magistrate of Cochbihar province. This author’s beginning of adolescence spend in Cooch Bihar. She had special interest in studies and she had a keen interest in Bengali literature, especially poetry since childhood. Koch Bihar’s natural beauty encouraged her to write poetry. Before her childhood ended, she was married to Rampur State Engineer Satyendranath Datta. Shortly after marriage her husband died of influenza.
After that, she got married to poet Narendra Dev. And famous novelist Nabanita Debsen is the daughter of this couple. Rabindranath Tagore who did this naming ‘Nabanita’.
In 1923, her writings to be published in magazine of ‘Bharatbarsha’, ‘Basumati’, ‘Manasi’, ‘Marmmabani’ etc. She was the author of “Lilakamal” (1930), “Sintimaur” (1932), “Bonbihagi” (1937) etc. poetry books. This author also wrote poetry books like ‘Buker Veena’, ‘Anginar Phool (1934)’, ‘Purabasini’ etc. under the name of “Aparajita Devi” pseudonym.
This eminent poet had a close relationship with Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay. And Sharat Chandra’s unfinished novel- “Shesher Parichoy” she finished. The author’s writing article “Sharatachandra: Manush O Shilpa (People and Art)” is the perfect combination of experience and insights in the analysis of Sharata talent.
