Author- Bratindranath Mukhopadhyay, a former Carmichael professor in the Department of Ancient Indian History and Culture at Calcutta University and a former National Fellow in History (ICHR, New Delhi), is well known in society as an ancient Indian and Central Asian historian. This internationally renowned professor is known for his fundamental contributions to the history of the two regions. Fifty research books written by him and more than seven hundred and fifty research papers published at home and abroad have brought him international recognition and honor. In 1992, Mukherjee was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in recognition of his research in numismatics.
