Poet Kabita Singha – one of the creators of feminist writing in Bengal. She has authored poems as well as short stories and novels. And she was a well-known journalist for a profession. This poet-journalist, who was active in the latter half of the twentieth century, was a model of modern working creative women. She was born on October 16, 1931, at Bhabanipur in Kolkata.
This great poet has sometimes used the pseudonym ‘Sultana Chowdhury’. Her first poem was published in 1946. It has been said about her, that her thinking, life philosophy, and way of thinking were far ahead of her time. Deeply confident was echoed in her voice. By breaking the one-sidedness of society, she told of a new future. The lines of her poetry have raised the question of self-exploration.
, The number of her published poetry-book is three, these are ‘Sohojsundari’ in 1956, ‘Kobita Poromeshwari’ in 1976, ‘Harinabairi’ in 1985. Novels: ‘Sonarupor Kathi’, ‘Charjon Ragi Jubati’, ‘Kobita Popmeshwari’, ‘Pourosh’, ‘Tridiba’, ‘Ekti Kharap Meye’, etc.
