This great poet Shanka Ghosh was born on February 5, 1932, and died on April 21, 2021. Born in Chandpur, present-day Bangladesh. He used the pseudonym ‘Kuntak’. Educated at Chandraprabha Vidyapeeth, Pakshi (in Pabna district of Bangladesh). And later pursued higher studies at Presidency College and Calcutta University. He is an accomplished poet, essayist, and editor and involved in teaching at Jadavpur University.
‘Dinguli Raatguli’ (Days and Nights) (1956) is the first book of poetry. This great poet received various awards- Sahitya Akademi Award (1977), Rabindra Award (1989), Kabir Samman (1998), Saraswati Samman (1998). He was also the author of numerous prose books.
