Pratibha Basu (Born on March 13, 1915 – Died on October 13, 2006) was an Indian Bengali novelist, short story and essayist writer. She was the wife of Buddhadev Basu who is also a renowned Bengali writer. Pratibha Basu debuted as a musician at her first life. Her multiple songs records ware published namely ‘Ranu Som’. After marriage, she left the song and went to the world of literature. Pratibha Bose’s most books have been commercially successful. Some of her novels have been filming and gains great success. Notable works are- ‘Monolina’ (1944), ‘Setubanddho’ (1947), ‘Moner Mayur’ (1952), ‘Bibahita Stri’ (1954), ‘Megher Pore Megh’ (1958), ‘Madhyarater Tara’ (1958), ‘Samudrahridoy’ (1959), ‘Samudra Periye’ (1975) etc. ‘Mahabharater Maharanye‘ is a great article book of her writing.

This great author received Bhubanmohini gold medal from Calcutta University for her outstanding contribution in Bangla language. Also, she got ‘Ananda Puruskar’ for special contribution in literary work. She wrote hundreds of books, including novels, short stories, essays, and children’s poetry.
