A few words about the literary emperor Bankimchand-
This extraordinary person was a novelist, journalist, one of the main men of the Renaissance of Bengal. There are two students of the first batch of the University of Calcutta passed BA in 1858, Bankim Chandra was one of them.
Later he was established as a writer and scholar of Hindu Renaissance.
Bankim Chandra’s contributions to the development of Bangla novels and Bangla prose literature are particularly noteworthy. Before him, the Bengali literature meant that some Sanskrit plays and stories and the translation of some Persian and Arabic stories and those were mainly educational and ethical.
Bankimchandra moved far ahead of his predecessors in characterization, artistry, description, aesthetics and in the excellence of Bangla prose. He established Bangla literature on such foundation whose direct influence has been developed the Bengali language and literature of the twentieth century.
