Upendranath Bandyopadhyay was one of the leading figures of the Swadeshi movement in India. He wrote the remarkable book ‘Bhoboghurer Chithi’ (Letter of a Vagrant) which was published in Bengal year 1363. The contents of the letters compiled in this book are the social and political situation of the contemporary period, and the last two letters are written to Subhash Bose. Although the book was published in later times, the period of the letter is from the mid to late forties. Before and after the partition of the country, so the crises of that time are the subject of these letters. All these writings are well thought out and well written, combining the author’s analytical ability and his personal subject matter.

The best literary works of Upendranath Babu are: ‘Unopanchashi’,
