Manik Bandyopadhyay was a prolific writer in the world of Bengali fiction. His first story ‘Atosi Maami‘ (1928) was published in Bichitra magazine while studying at Presidency College and this story was appreciated in the reader community. Later, with a lot of dedication and perseverance, he got the reputation of an established writer in a short time.
Manik Bandyopadhyay introduces the depth life of human and the power of psychoanalytic analysis in his essay. In his earliest works, there is a profound analysis of the deepest mystery of the human subconscious mind.
His socialist viewpoint is echoed in the next writings which are written after World War II and fifties Manhattar. In his composition of this stage depicts the perfect picture of how social and economic realities affect civic life. Manik Bandyopadhyay himself faced extreme poverty, yet he regarded literature as a profession. For these reasons, his novel portrays a real picture of how poverty alters the nature of people.
